Biomedics Toric contact lenses, made by CooperVision, feature high stability, excellent wearing comfort, and low rotation when placed on the eye. According to the manufacturer, eight out of ten patients in a recent clinical study preferred Biomedics Toric lenses over their current ones.

Biomedics Toric lenses are for daily removal and cleaning, and bi-weekly replacement. Alternatively, with doctor approval they can also be used for extended wear of up to seven days before replacement with new lenses.

When you suffer from astigmatism, your eye’s cornea is shaped irregularly to be more like a football than a perfect sphere. This odd shape blurs vision because it scatters light rays and prevents them from focusing correctly on the retina where they belong. The end result is the unfocused vision you are accustomed to without correction. Toric contact lenses like Biomedics Toric compensate for astigmatism by behaving as a refracting prism when placed correctly on the eye, which re-focuses light rays on the cornea and restores sharp vision.

Biomedics Toric lenses are constructed of a polymer called Ocufilcon D, a moisture-absorbing substance that contains 55% water. CooperVision also uses a patented thinner edge on the lenses. A high moisture content plus thin edges amount to a very high level of wearing comfort for the entire time you are wearing your lenses.

Another great aspect of these lenses is that they block UV rays, something not found in many other contact lens brands. UV-A and UV-B rays can be harmful to the eye over the long term, so any protection against them is a great thing. The lenses are no substitute for the more thorough ultraviolet protection featured by UV-deflecting sunglasses or goggles because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area, but they do offer complementary protection.

Before using Biomedics Toric lenses, please consult with your vision provider to come up with the best wearing and replacement schedule for you–especially if you intend to use them for extended wear. Not everyone can tolerate continuous wear because medical needs will vary, so it is important that your physician advise you on what is best for correcting your astigmatism.

Biomedics Toric offer clinically proven wearing comfort and the flexibility of a weekly or bi-weekly replacement schedule with daily or extended wear. If this combination of features suits your lifestyle needs, try these lenses for yourself and feel the difference.

Focus Toric contact lenses from CIBA Vision Corporation are a popular brand of toric lenses for astigmatism. They are used for daily wear and removal, and offer convenient monthly replacement.

When you have astigmatism, the eye’s cornea is oddly shaped and is is shaped more like a football than a sphere. The result is that rays of light scatter everywhere instead of landing on the retina where they belong, which in turn causes the blurry vision you’re accustomed to without your eye contacts or glasses.

Focus Toric lenses reverse astigmatism by wrapping themselves snugly around the eyeball upon insertion and then remaining firmly in place. Once there, they serve as a refracting medium that compensates for the scattering of light caused by the oddly-shaped cornea and re-focuses light on the retina. You then end up with crisp, clear eyesight.

A high moisture level is important for any eye contacts, because a higher water content equates to increased comfort while wearing the lenses. Focus Toric lenses remain moist because they are constructed of 55% water and 45% vifilcon A, a water-loving polymer that keeps your lenses feeling comfortable and smooth all day long. When you remove them in the evening they will re-absorb water from your contact lens solution and be full of moisture once again the next morning.

You might notice that Focus Toric lenses have a slight shade of blue, which happens through a method CIBA Vision calls Visitint. You can’t see the blue tint at all while wearing the lenses, but it helps greatly in handling and removing your lenses. The lenses also feature three small lines at the bottom that tell the wearer the exact position in which the lenses should be placed on the astigmatic eye, since the positioning of a toric lens is so important.

Focus Toric contact lenses provide the convenience of monthly replacement and less worry about when to discard in favor of new lenses. They should be removed and disinfected nightly, so please consult your eye doctor before using them in any other way.

If you seek well-designed, long-lasting toric contact lenses for astigmatism that need only monthly replacement you can’t go wrong with this brand.

If you suffer from astigmatism and seek the freshness and comfort of a disposable lens with a frequent replacement schedule, you may want to consider Vertex Toric contact lenses from CooperVision.

If you suffer from astigmatism and seek the freshness and comfort of a disposable lens with a frequent replacement schedule, you may want to consider Vertex Toric contact lenses from CooperVision. They offer the convenience of either daily wear with removal, or optionally extended wear for up to seven days between replacements.

Vertex Toric lenses are specially shaped to compensate for the odd shape of the eye that causes astigmatism. When you suffer from this condition, the eye is shaped like a football rather than a sphere, which blurs your vision by causing light rays to scatter instead of focusing sharply on the retina. When toric contact lenses are put on the eye, they act as a refracting prism that re-focuses light rays onto the retina where they belong, resulting in the crisp and clear vision you seek.

A high moisture level keeps lenses feeling comfortable. These eye contacts are made of methafilcon A, a hydrophilic (water-loving) substance comprised of 55% water when fully hydrated. Such a high water content keeps the lenses feeling great for as long as you wear them.

Additionally, a patented manufacturing process called UltraSync produces a uniformly perfect edge on every lens. This consistency of construction heightens stability, prevents rotation on the eye, and delivers the same great comfort with each new pair of lenses.

The eye contacts also lend themselves to easy handling. CooperVision uses a very light blue tint on each lens that allows you to see and handle it clearly, yet is invisible while worn. That will save you a lot of time, since you will easily find a lens you dropped, removed for disinfection, or are about to place on your eye.

Vertex Toric lenses require frequent replacement, and only your eye doctor can determine the best replacement schedule for you. Most of the time it will probably be one to two weeks between replacements for this brand.

If you are planning to use these lenses for extended wear, it becomes particularly important that you consult with your physician. Your eyes may not be able to tolerate extended wear, since everyone’s medical needs and conditions are different. Failure to see your eye doctor could lead to harmful side effects, and only he or she can tell you for sure if you are eligible.

If a flexible wearing and replacement plan sounds good to you, then you’ll be glad you tried Vertex Toric contact lenses. Whether it’s the fresh feeling that comes from weekly to bi-weekly replacement, the high moisture level, or cutting-edge lens design, you will love your lenses every minute you are wearing them.

If you are bothered by dry eyes or eye contacts and have astigmatism, you may want to try Proclear Toric contact lenses from CooperVision, a brand made for for daily wear and disposable monthly. Proclear lenses are, according to the manufacturer, the only eye contacts with permission from the Food and Drug Administration to state that they “may provide improved comfort for contact lens wearers who experience mild discomfort or symptoms relating to dryness during lens wear.”

If you do feel discomfort from your current eye contacts, you are not alone. About 50% of all lens users experience discomfort too, and it is often caused by challenging conditions like looking at computer screens for long periods or being in climate-controlled work environments.

The secret behind Proclear Toric’s unmatched wearing comfort is the substance used for making the lenses. Called “PC Technology” by CooperVision, the material is a synthetic form of Phosphorylcholine (PC), which is found naturally in the human cell membranes. PC molecules love water, and will bind to and surround themselves with it. These water-attracting molecules coat the lenses to keep them very moist, resulting in a high sixty-two percent water content for each lens. The end result is that you can wear the lenses for up to 12 hours daily, free of the itchy eyes and discomfort you may experience from other brands.

When you have astigmatism, it means that the eye is shaped oddly. This causes light to scatter in many different directions instead of focusing on the retina, and you end up with blurry vision. Proclear Toric lenses reverse astigmatism by creating a more even shape over the cornea to counteract the shape of the astigmatic eye. Their design also holds the lenses firmly in their correct position, which is important for toric lenses to function properly. The more even surface and position stability you get from Proclear Toric allows the lenses to act as a refracting medium to re-focus light rays on the retina, clearing up your astigmatism and returning you to sharp vision.

You should visit your vision doctor to make sure Proclear Toric lenses are appropriate for you, especially if you already suffer from dry eyes naturally or while using another brand. Proclear lenses are for daily wear with nightly removal and disinfection. They are neither approved nor tested for use while sleeping and should not be used in that manner. They are replaceable monthly unless your vision doctor suggests a different replacement schedule for you.

If you want your toric contact lenses to feel as great when you take them out in the evening as they do when you put them on in the morning, try out Proclear Toric lenses for yourself and feel the difference.

If you suffer from astigmatism and are searching for toric contact lenses, but need to save money, then you may want to think about Soflens Toric by Bausch and Lomb. They are among the cheapest toric lenses but offer very high value for your dollar.

If you suffer from astigmatism and are in need of toric contact lenses, but are on a budget, then you may want to consider Soflens Toric by Bausch and Lomb. They are among the lowest priced toric lenses but offer very high value for your dollar.

Soflens Toric (formerly known as Soflens 66 Toric) lenses are intended for daily wear and daily disinfection, and are disposable weekly or bi-weekly. Alternatively, they can also be used as extended wear lenses for 1 to 7 days between removals.

Astigmatism is a condition where rays of light scatter in different directions instead of focusing on the retina, which causes blurry vision. Soflens Toric lenses combat this condition by using a unique “Lo-Torque” design that delivers great stability for the lens when it is placed on the eye. This stability allows the contact lens to remain in place and effectively act as a prism that properly focuses light rays on the retina. This stops the scattering of light.

As with most toric lenses, Soflens Toric are thicker at the bottom to help keep the lens in place. Their design includes a wedge-shaped tapered section of material on the front and upper surface of the lens. This shape causes the contact lens to be thinner than usual towards the top, which results in minimal lens weight and maximum comfort.

If you are concerned about the moisture level of Soflens Toric lenses, they do not disappoint in this regard. They are made of a polymer compound that is 66% water when fully hydrated (which accounts for the original Soflens 66 Toric name.) This water-loving substance will keep the lenses feeling comfortable and moist all day long. The Soflens polymer is also deposit resistant and permeable to oxygen, both of which are very important for extended wear lenses.

These lenses are very easy to handle because they are tinted the lightest shade of blue in order to make them more visible. This tint will not at all interfere with how the lenses work or with the quality of your eye sight, but is handy for removal and disinfecting. The lenses also feature three small guide marks at the bottom to easily guide you in placing them correctly on the eye, which ensures that the toric lenses will work properly.

You should talk with your eye doctor when considering whether Soflens Toric lenses are for you, especially if you are thinking about using them for extended wear. Not everyone is able to use them in that manner because everyone’s vision needs are different, and only your medical provider can tell you for sure.

Soflens Toric lenses can often be found at a discount of 25% or more compared to the price of other brands. Their suitability for daily or extended wear along with their great design provides for a flexible combination of convenience and sharp visual acuity. If cost is a factor and you seek high quality toric lenses for your astigmatism, you will find them to be an excellent value given the performance you get for a great price. Try them today!

David Long is an expert who writes about toric contact lenses.
If you are suffering itchiness and dryness from the toric contact lenses you are currently using, or even if you are just seeking the smoothest feel possible, ACUVUE Advance For Astigmatism may be a good choice for you.

If you are suffering discomfort and dryness from the toric contact lenses you are currently using, or even if you are just seeking the silkiest feel possible, ACUVUE Advance For Astigmatism may be a great choice for you.

ACUVUE Advance toric lenses are a weekly disposable contact lens product made by parent company Johnson & Johnson. They feature Hydraclear, a silicon polymer that is remarkably moisture rich and found throughout the exterior and interior of each lens. Hydraclear maintains a rich moisture level because it is composed of water-loving long-chain molecules.

This moist polymer creates a soft and smooth feelfeel all day long that will almost make you forget you are even wearing contact lenses. In fact, the manufacturer cites tests showing that over 70% of patients wearing ACUVUE toric lenses were still happy with how they felt after more than 8 hours of nonstop wear.

Another great benefit of Hydraclear is its permeability. It allows an amazing 98% of available oxygen to permeate through the lens and to your cornea. Breathability is vital for your eye’s health, because it needs oxygen in order to function properly. A product that permits 98% breathability makes it practically like wearing nothing at all.

ACUVUE toric lenses also protect your eyes from ultraviolet rays. UV protection is important because the sun’s UV rays can damage your eyes through prolonged exposure. ACUVUE Advance lenses provide up to 96 percent protection against UV-A and up to 99 percent protection against UV-B. That compares to as little as 10 percent and 30 percent respectively for some other brands!

The protection against ultraviolet rays is so complete that the manufacturer claims the lenses are the first and only ones to receive a Seal of Acceptance for Ultraviolet Absorbing Contact Lenses from both the American Optometric Assocation and the World Council of Optometry.

Toric contact lenses must remain in position and not float around the eyeball because that is the only way to prevent light from scattering in many directions, which is what astigmatism does. ACUVUE toric lenses solve this problem through what its manufacturer calls Accelerated Stabilization Design.

This design minimizes the eyelid touching the lens when the eye blinks, which usually causes the lens to move. It also harnesses the subtle pressure from the lids themselves to keep the lenses firmly where they belong.

The secret behind the design is its use of multiple stability zones instead of the one thick area at the bottom of the lens featured on most other astigmatism lenses. The result is stability and crisp vision because your toric lenses will almost never pop out of their correct position.

As you can see, ACUVUE Advance For Astigmatism lenses feature cutting edge technology. It is no wonder they are some of the most popular toric contact lenses on the market. If you do not like your current lenses or simply want to try one of the best brands out there, give these lenses for astigmatism a try.

For years subsequent to their introduction, contact lenses could easily correct farsightedness or nearsightedness but nothing else. Through careful crafting of the contact lens it became possible to easily change where light rays focused on the retina. But astigmatism posed a problem that was unsolvable by technology at the time, therefore requiring people with astigmatism to continue wearing glasses. Toric contact lenses ultimately solved that problem.

Vision problems normally occur because the eyes focus light rays incorrectly in relation to the retina. Nearsightedness causes light rays to focus in front of the retina, while farsightedness causes light rays to focus behind it.

Astigmatism is a different problem altogether. Astigmatism means that the cornea, lens or the eyeball as a whole is oddly shaped compared to a normal eye. The physical distortion is small and undetectable by others, but small differences in the eye produce a large effect for your vision. Light rays end up scattering in many different directions–not just ahead of, behind, or on the retina. Blurred vision is the unfortunate result of this distortion.

The manner in which astigmatism scatters light made it difficult to produce contact lenses to fix the problem. Toric lenses solved that problem by combining two different geometric shapes so as to focus light properly. Ordinary contact lenses are shaped like half of a sphere, while toric contact lenses combine a spherical shape with a toroidal (donut shaped) one. This unique shape solves astigmatism’s light scattering problem.

Toric contact lenses are made using the same materials as other contact lenses, despite their different shape. They can be soft, rigid gas permeable (RGP), or hard. But unlike other contact lenses, toric lenses cannot be allowed to rotate around the surface of the eye. Rather, the toric lens shape must remain firmly in place so it can correctly prevent light from scattering.

Toric contact lenses can also be designed to fix more than one vision problem simultaneously, such as astigmatism and farsightedness. This flexibility and unique shape of toric lenses makes them more difficult to manufacture correctly, and eye exams and fitting can be more complicated.

Toric lenses may be more expensive as a result. For people who only have a mild astigmatism the extra expense might be avoided by using regular contact lenses. The cornea will to some extent conform to the shape of the lens and minimize light scattering. Toric lenses may not be necessary at all for mild astigmatism, but only your eye care doctor can say for sure after administering an exam.

For people end up needing toric contact lenses, there are many options available. You can purchase single or multifocal lenses. Toric lenses are also available in the same types as regular lenses–disposable, single day wear, weekly wear, monthly wear, and even extended wear.

If you suffer from astigmatism, then there are sure to be great toric contact lenses to fit your budget and lifestyle.
